A lot of us came over from rhythm guitar. The learning curve to bass is a snap. Take your guitar sheet music and play the notes of the chord one note at a time, to the beat of the song, instead of strumming the chord...

Start with pounding the root note, when that gets old add a 5. Where is the 5? From the root note it will be up a string and toward the bridge two frets, or same fret as the root but down a string.
