Hot News Flash! My band has decided it wants to do Higher Ground by some band called the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The bass player for that band is fairly good.

To play it a la chili peppers I usually just double the guitar riff & slap.

Pretty simple. The pentatonic runs in the chorus are a little tricky.

I think that was the first song I ever learned to slap/pop. I agree with listening to the Stevie Wonder version for the groove and then insert the hyper Flea slapping with the groove that your drummer decides to play.

It's a fun song to play.
I'm in a RHCP tribute band and this song never fails to get people going and dancing. Pretty simple song once you get the hang of the slap pattern, although non-bass players tend to think is very hard and usually give you high fives after playing it :lol:
The very fast punk ending is a fantastic way to end a set
