Hofner Help!

Hello TB,

I bought a Hofner Ignition and it came in today. I love it! So much so that I'm wondering what else would sound like this bass...in a more substantial package. I know that I can buy a German Hofner, and may do that, but would something like a Guild or Gretsch have that hollow thump? I'm asking because I will return the Ignition and get something more expensive and substantial if it has the same sound. I suspect that the sound comes from the fact that the bass is very light, etc.

Take the next step up to the CT (Contemporary) model? It's a little heavier (still under 7 lbs.), but balances well, is made to German specs, and has German pickups.

I play a Hofner 500/1 that weighs in at 4.13 lbs., and it's very balanced. No neck dive, etc.
