As I get older I start to appreciate the lighter things in life. I just bought a used Hofner Ignition Club bass that really sounds nice, and now I've ordered one of these beatle-style ones. Put some LaBella Beatle flats on it and you get a great thudding bass for only 4-5 lbs.

Only thing is the 30" scale takes some getting used to and the controls are genuinely weird.

I have both an Ignition Club and Ignition Violin. Both strung with Labella 760FHB2 light gauge strings. Both are extremely light and comfortable to play. The Violin packs a little more low end, upright bass tone than the Club. The Club's tone is a lot more traditional and I tend to use it on tunes where I'd normally use a P-bass. These are so light they feel like toys, but the sound is legit with proper strings.

Edit: mixed up the Club and LTD.

I got the silver sparkle Ignition LTD. I don't like it as much as the Ignition Club though. I immediately replaced the roundwounds it came with with LaBella Beatle flats, which helped a lot, but to get it to intonate properly I had to move the bridge to almost a 45 degree angle. On the Club it's pretty much straight. The electronics and neck are pretty much the same, but the Club just feels more comfortable against me. Maybe I'll acclimate to the LTD over time.

I'll try to post a picture of the silver finish tomorrow.

Did you post the pictures of the silver finish anywhere?

Doh! Forgot all about it. Here are some. On balance, I wish I hadn't bought it. Maybe it'll be useful if I ever get hired to do a Beatles show :-).
