Nice! I think Hohner basses don't get the props or appreciation they deserve. They're actually very good basses for the money. I had a PJ Pro that I gave to a young padawan bass player as a first bass - better than the Squier basses of this kind.

it's heavy, neck is huge, sound is good

Right I have this Hohner Professional J Bass which I bought in the Mid '90s new (In the UK, North Wales to be precise). I dont remember having any paperwork with it. I bought it and walked out the shop!! Ive googled and searched but nothing is comming up about this specific model. The only other one Ive found is on here but it was the fretless version from a guy in Australia I think!! So the question is - Does anyone know anything about it? Where its made (Im assuming Far East). Are they rated as any good? Does anyone else have one? Is it a sleeping classic that will pay for my old age (Dream on lol). I think its a realy nice player although the pups arent up to much realy. I also think it looks realy nice. Oh and finally, It does say 'J' on the head doesnt it!!!

Hi ya'll. I've got couple of these too. The p bass (HP) and the PJ. I really really like em I put flats on both which I'm new to but really enjoying.

One question to owners what's the wee adjustment hole on the back of neck plate for? Is it related to truss rod adjustment?

Ooo, this might count as a late reply... It's in theory for adjusting the neck shim, but you're better off shimming with Stew Mac wooden neck shims if you can, to get the best contact surface.

I have two Professional J Basses, one fretless and one fretted (plus a B-Bass 5 and a The Jack...loving the Hohners too much...?)...and love them both! They've had bridge changes (Babicz, had to drill but much more stable and resonant), CTS pots fitted, rewired and shielded...but still going strong! The fretless needs a new truss rod, so the ebanol fingerboard will be coming off to be replaced with ebony, but it's worth it, 'cos these are phenomenal basses that can be had cheap!

I got a JBass FL that is becoming my main bass. I own a lot of far more prestigious basses (the Fender gang : Precision US std, Precision 51 japan, Jazz bass US std and a Mayones BE4 FL) but this bass that I bought for cheap to play at home because my Mayones is active and I was fed up with the "if you forget to unplug the jack the battery dies" syndrom, is becoming my main bass (I play jazz and it's perfect for that).
In fact I love this old (30 years) cheap Hohner.
The neck is slightly larger than a jazz (I like that) , i changed the pickups and some stuff, took away the pick guard because I prefer the raw look it has..
Stock pickups are not awful, they lack a little bit of definition but the bass is perfect usable stock

This is my Hohner Professional Series HGV-B offset flying V, Brass hardware and built like a tank.
No trace of it anywhere despite lots of searching.

A new custodian of a Pro JJ Bass.
It came up for sale on our local second hand website, price was right and it was in the next town, arranged to go see and try it and was pleasantly surprised how good it felt in my hands, Problem was I was about to leave for Scotland for a month or two and would have no time to practice there, still there but should be home in March. It is from 1990 made by Cort in Korea,
