Hondo bass question

I considered o
That’s a solid $30 bass right there.

I’ve had a bunch of Hondo Strats I got in trade. Basically, the guy gave me 3 of them to make up $100 trade difference. They were good to practice fretwork on and soldering and painting. I gave them away after a couple years.

I’ve heard Hondo had some decent models, but I’ve never played one of them.
I considered offering less but just much more than i want to get into. Im a finisher by trade, cabinetry fine furniture and staircase systems so i can do basic mods but refretting and more in depth stuff, i just have no time. I can refinish and have refinished many instruments, its just more my thing. Here is the latest one.b4 during and after.pics are bad. But the idea is there. 20190528_174201.jpg 20190528_174305.jpg 20190528_174411.jpg 20190528_174609.jpg 20190528_174537.jpg 20190528_174625.jpg 20190528_174032.jpg

Hey guys thanks for all ur feedback and replies. So here we go: upon arriving i picked up bass and noticed it was fairly light. I noticed the action was SUPER high. I checked the neck and it ha bad bow..wait a BAD BAD bow, didnt knw if to play it or shoot arrow! I then plugged it in aand checked sound. At low volume it was OK. Then i inspected it more, the bridge had no adjustment left whatsoever, i mean it was lowered to the max, the nut was filed down, way down and badly done. I asked if i could try to adjust neck a bit. I did but not by much.
Sound. When i turned it up, pot was cutting out and it just sounded odd. Like it had a "undertone" not a full sound and when i raised tone knob it sounded like it had its own "grit/dirt" is the best way i can put it. Not a full sound. It just sounded wierd. I wanted it to work but I just had to pass on it
Also, the seller said he never worked on it and that it had tje same strings from 15 years ago and they sounded brighter and looked cleaner thank the ones i put on my musicmaster 4 months ago( thats the bass im teaching my daughter how to play on) I just felt it was going to be too much work. I just finished a yamaha bb614 not too long ago that took me over too to finish and all i did was swap bridge, do a set up and change the color to a worn teal look w a custom pickguard as they disnt come w one. But again thanks guys for all u help!
good judgement, better luck down the low road.
