Double Bass Horrible squeal when I plug in my Stagg EUB on stage

Hi,

I tried my Stagg EUB at a gig a long time back and had to abandon it because the second I plugged it in it had a horrible high pitch "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE". I'm almost sure amps were on but nobody was playing. I can't remember for sure but I think it was going through my Zoom B3N with various pedals on but it would have been similar to what I send my regular basses through.

I wanted to do some standard checks like plugging straight to amp. Decoupling it from the floor. etc.. but we had to go so I didn't have time.

I'd like to dust it off and try again, so what I'm hoping to get here is a list of things to check so I can quickly move through them next time.

FYI it is fine at home.

First thing I would try, after just connecting the Stagg to the amp with nothing in between, is replacing the battery. Check EQ, dial subbass back (to the left). If there is still the high pitch then I assume either Stagg or amp has a defect.
