How are the 5-string SX

Well, how to put this delicately:

The SX's tend (I'm working from a sample of 2 here that I own) to have perfectly adequate Low-B strings. Actually pretty darn nice for ~$110-$180 basses. And the rest of them, aside from the Low-B string, is fully up to par with the 4 stringers. In fact, I find the 5 string Jazzes, fretted and fretless, to have really nice playing necks. I'll probably jump on another one of the SJB-75Cs with the Bound and Blocked neck sometime soon. The one I have is edging out my Steinberger for playing time right now, I like it so much.

That said, they are not as good as my over $600 basses (ESP LTD and Steinberger) for that tight Low-B.

But, perfectly useful. Not at all like some of the crap I've picked up in Guitar Center. Sheesh, some of those would have been better off feeding my fireplace last winter.
