How Can I Fix my Warwick's Finish?

I have a Warwick Corvette $$ with almost exactly the same scratches that you first had on the back of yours. I've contemplated sanding down the bass to get rid of the war wounds, but I've decided why mess with its character? Look forward to seeing your final product!

Looks great! What type of stain did you use? I am looking into refinishing my Spector with a thick stain/finish. I think that stuff would do the trick.

It's Minwax Water Based Wood Stain that I got at Lowe's. They even mixed the color in-store, just like paint. It was good stuff to work with. I cut it slightly with paint thinner. This stuff is actually really nice uncut, so if you are looking for a thicker finish you may want to try it without cutting it first.

I actually did this twice and I wasn't happy the first try, so sanded it back to wood and started over. I found that using a rag to apply the stain (as opposed to foam brush) was the best method for me.
