How did you end up playing bass??

I started playing viola in 5th grade. Once I got to 7th grade there was a new instrument I found. Similar to a cello, but a lot bigger. I plucked a couple strings and was hooked.

I switched over in 8th grade when there wasn't anyone who wanted to play the double bass.

Eventually in high school I got an electric. I loved bass even before I even started listening to music in general to be inspired by other bassists. I heard the sound and that's what I wanted to do, so I did it.

Though I do remember listening to Megadeth's "Mastermind" in 9th grade. It's not comlplicated by any means, but when i first heard that into, that's when I knew I wanted to pick up an electic bass. Still have love for the DB though. I'd like to get one some day.

I've always wanted to play bass, everyone was into guitars but i liked the idea and concept of bass playing. some of my close friends were starting to play and that more or less sparked me to get an instrument.
sadly my mother coaxed me into getting a guitar when i was 14-15 (18 now), which i kinda enjoyed, but i saved up my money as quickly as possible and bought myself a nice lefty jazz bass and have been playing bass ever since with my poor little lonely strat in the corner collecting dust.
