I’ve been reading a few reviews online and here regarding various DI units, tone hammer, sansamp, Mxr etc.
Previously I’ve recorded directly into an interface, then EQ, compression etc. was done in Logic (mixed and mastered by our drummer who is also a guitarist).
Should I be giving serious consideration to a bass specific DI unit like those mentioned above? Would that improve recording quality, or is recording direct into the interface and editing in Logic effectively the same thing? That said if I were to compress and EQ before the interface, my raw recording may require less editing in the software - and I might be happier with the tone, although possibly less workable if needing to tweak to suit the song at the mixing / mastering stages...
Of cause none of that can make me a better bass player, but that’s a lost cause haha... so just looking at little things I can tweak / do better..
