So I'm gigging last night, and my son shows up from out of town and whips out this '76 4001 fretless for me to drool on. I can't believe the condition this guy is in, it's yummy! My son is a wicked bassist and says it is a RIC player's dream. He's friends of the guy who owns a vintage instrument shop in New Braunfels TX and the gentleman let him bring it down for me to get all worked up over. I took these pics of it today, hanging in my music room. Sure looks nice there, but I can't bring myself to pony up for it so he's taking it back. Woe is me.

The shop has it listed at $3500 with $45 shipping as I recall, which is steep but I'm betting they'll negotiate. As much as I'd love to, I just can't see myself buying another bass right now.

I'd definitely be interested in what some of you guys have to say, especially Paul Boyer, Rick Scott, and other RIC heavies, and I just wanted to sling it out there for a bit of eye candy for the rest of the TB gang.
