Well there is fat from beer, and fat from milk products and it makes a huge difference in your tone. If it's beer fat, your tone will be more scooped. Cheese fat brings out the mids. In general though, the higher the fat content in your body the brighter your tone will be, up to about 50%......then it starts to get darker. Obviously, 100% fat will give you a tubby tone. Unless of course it's hard fat and then you're tone gets brighter as you move closer to 100%. As the fat begins to envelope your bass as you play your tone gets warmer obviously. Unless you sit when you play and then for some reason your mids get a little more harsh.

More research needs to be done of course, and there are major studies being done to address this issue, especially regarding how a quick gain or loss in weight affects tone. Passive basses seem to react differently from active basses, and different strings also make a huge difference. The heavier the string the rounder your tone becomes etc.

It's a fascinating subject you can work on for a lifetime.

Your toan will be fine as long as you don't mix any carbs into that...if you do, then get ready for tub city toan. Some people want to go for that though...don't worry so much about the weight, as you could just be a denser core than others

I'm a pretty lean-built runner who has been working on my core and upper body strength a lot in recent years. I find that for long gigs and rehearsals, having that race-ready weight allows me to run away quickly when the guitarist or singer is drunk and starts swinging things around or coming at me on stage. So I'd say being lean and light on your feet in general helps in crucial situations.

Oh, my. It is so disappointing when your friends lead you astray. My hard-core Wisconsonite friend gave me a HUUUUGE bottle of E&J for Christmas and said it was the thing in Wisconsin. I guess that must means I have to get some Korbel to join the E&J so we can compare next time she comes over. Does it make any difference that she's from Racine?
