I answered 14k, but probably should be closer to 13k. Using my Tascam US100 USB interface as a sound card and some Fostex T20 studio headphones. I did the "blind test" with the white noise too - at 12k I was 10/10, 13k 9/10, 14k 8/10.
As several have said - above 14 K all I hear is the ringing of my tinnitus
51 years old, lots of loud music from age 16 on, 20 years in the USAF as an aircraft mechanic. Around not only jet engines but gas turbine and diesel generators, etc. Normally wore hearing protection but sometimes you would be caught by surprise.
Avid motorcyclist for 20 years, always wear earplugs while riding (bike exhaust isn't loud, wind noise is!).
I've tried wearing earplugs while playing, but it just makes me turn everything up louder to hear it
