How legal is this?

my son had to take a drug related urine test when he was around 18 yrs old - Afterward we got a "congratulatory" phone call from the testing person letting us know our son was pregnant.

moral: be sure to submit your own sample.

Haha, well you can order that clean urine online. :D Unfortunately, the process that people have to go through in order to submit the sample and not get caught doing it is an excercise in Solid Snake-level stealth.

Just got off the phone with labor board. They said is it legal, no. Is it worth filing a complaint for 4.75 before taxes no. I would be very low on their priority list. Take a long time to settle the case. And they can retaliate against me. There's the official answer gents. Thanks for talking to me and trying to help me out. On a side note the tests were instant tests. We didn't send them away.

Personally, I'd find a couple of hours of personal stuff to do while I'm on the clock later on. And not talk about it.

That's the real issue here.
He got screwed, illegally, and the employer knew it, the state knows it....hell even WE knew it...and nothing happened. Why?
Right to work state. Anti union.
That's why.
They don't care...because they don't have to.

Pennsylvania is not a right-to-work state. Even if it were so, if the OP were part of a bargaining unit, the union would have an obligation to fairly represent him, else it could be an unfair labor practice.

I just stopped working (after only five months) for a crazy-ass company run by a paranoid owner. Work ethic is very high in this country and he had a hard-working, dedicated and motivated staff (as I've heard from a colleague), until he drove everyone nuts with his bull. He and his spoiled useless daughter spy/employee are now reaping what they have sown.

I wish I could feel better about their misfortune, but it's just sad when you think about the wasted energy and effort, and how much misery he caused to all the staff.

Reminds me of a business partner I had in a bar/hotel- when starting out we discussed how important it was to renumerate staff properly, or they end up pilfering, working against the interests of the company, and not realizing their own potential. Eventually we drifted (with the help of a misguided accountant) towards trying to squeeze our employees and not sharing the success we were experiencing with them. I had to get out of there because it was tearing me up morally, and creating an unsustainable situation, especially as we were in hospitality. After i left it got worse and their staff turnover is terribly high, everyone bitches about the working conditions, and they have been in slow but steady decline since.

I just don't get how employers can be so short-sighted.
