How long do you keep your computer powered on?

I generally leave mine on all day, even when I'm not at my desk. I'll usually shut it off before I go to bed, though.

Me too. I don't shut it down when sleeping either, cause I have AlarmClock and my Mac wakes me in the morning. I can't wait till I get an iMac, no need to take the battery out and put it in my MacBook.

Me, too. I guess I shut down when we leave for the weekend of something. I do restart once in a while to sort of "wipe the slate" clean.

Gets turned off for sleep.
Monitor(CRT not LCD) gets turned off if I'm out of the room for any period of time due to their ability to catch on fire. This would be the OLD kind to you young folks...the kind with a picture tube, guns, high voltage power supply(the culprit), etc. Came with the PC. When it craters, a flat screen wil replace it.

Just google the monitor fire stuff.
I've seen one go up in our office shortly after the capacitors in it exploded(CRT type, not LCD flat screen). If it would have been in home or office near cloth curtain....a quick, expensive maybe deady fire would have happened.

With the flatscreens, they too probably have some track record of flaming on.

Desktop - From when I wake up until I go to bed.

Laptop - I keep it on hibernate whenever I am going to be gone for more than 20 minutes, otherwise, it is on a lot of the day and always gets shut off at night.

24/7 unless I'm gone for the day. Mine's a PC but it goes into a sleep mode too. The monitors have a auto off also.

My desktop and my server are on 24/7. The only time they're off is to restart for a software update, or a blackout. I leave my desktop on all the time because I hop on not long after I get up, and I don't want to wait for it to start up. A lot of the time, I'm downloading something that'll take a few days too, so turning the computer off isn't really an option. As for my server, well, it's a server. I let a bunch of people use it, and they may need to access it at any time, so it's left on all the time.

But I turn the hard drives off when the computers are inactive. Leaving your computer on all day, every day, will kill your hard drives faster if you don't. Technically, it's not any faster, since the hard drive is on for the same number of hours, but from the date it's installed to the date it dies, the drive won't last as long, since it's on for more hours of the day.

And I gotta say, losing terabytes of data is quite the PITA.

I keep mine on 24/7. Only turn off the monitor when I'm not using it.
