How low does your bass sit on your strap?

I used to wear mine low when I first started playing a couple years back. Like... low... below the belt. Then I stopped playing. This time around I wear it like a necklace and then swing it as vertical as my strap allows. Maybe it's my bad eyes. In fact, my old strap allowed me to wear it higher... I'm thinking about getting another. I like it that way. My friends say I should lower it, they say I look dorky. Of course, for them, music is more of a fashion statement as shown in the mainstream these days. Back then I started developing wrist problems and my hands were in a lot of pain. I figure I'm only 21. The last thing I need is to speed up the aging process for my body.

Interesting question.

When I play my 5 string i tend to have it rinding a bit higher than my 4.

My 4 string would be just below my waistline.

i wear my bass as low as james hetfield wears his guitars which is damn near below my belt buckle. i stand at 6'3" and before straps weren't long enough i had to get one custom made at a leather craft shop so it hangs low enough for my personal comfort. I like having my right arm straight. Most people think i'm an idiot for going so low but it works for me

I keep it in front of the junkbox. I find the bass to hold quite stable there(I can easily lean it on my right knee if I require more stability relatively quickly). It also allows me to play without bending my right of left wrist excessively, and protects the gun should a kick ever be thrown in my direction(accidental or some sort of odd attempt at stage antics from a bandmate).

Depends on the bass. Since I mostly play Precisions they're pretty much all centered around my belly button. Jazz basses are slung slightly lower as their contour tends to make the neck angle upwards on my body slightly. I wear my Rick reasonably low though as I tend to use it as an aggressive pick bass. Keeping it low prevents my arm from cramping up.

The highest slung bass is my EB2 since it neck dives a lot. I find having it high up and pinned to my body alleiviates that quite a bit.

I'd say similar to this... but I angle the neck up higher so I can easily reach all the frets. Mainly the ones on the lower strings, with out having to twist my wrist in an awkward position but still have the bass low, because everyone know that it looks cool.

Just a side note though, people who hang their basses/guitars wayyyy too low = idiots

^^ Just my opinion though
