How much does a luthier get paid?

One earns peanuts and one earns even less working in the back of a GC.

It's not uncommon for shops that have an on-site tech, to send their more interesting and difficult work out to a full fledged luthier shop. This avoids the shop having to maintain the space and tools for real luthier work.
