How often do you change roundwound strings?

Now does anyone here feel that by hitting a string and causing it to vibrate, over 10'000 plucks. I feel the string would lose its durability and tension and clarity and stiffness. Just the nature of things?

depends. i find strings go dead faster on my 28.6" scale basses (mikros, mini P), so i change those strings every 6 to 12 months - basically when they thud. i don't actually like new string sound, but there's a difference between warm, less brassy tone and dead and dull. long scale basses can last 12 months or more, mostly to 18 or 24 months.

i once had some boomers on a long scale bass that lasted over 5 years before they finally died.
