With flats...never. Rounds about every 2-3 months or as soon as the ring goes out of em. Glad i use flats only now save aot of money.

Flats... Never

Rounds... when they lose their twang. I have lots of basses so it is hard to say how often but I would guesstimate that a set of strings would last me no more than 3 weeks with heavy playing.

Tip... Buy strings in bulk on eBay. I buy EB sets for $10-15 (5 or 10 at a time) so switching often isn't that big a deal financially.
