Here in FL, its a twice yearly truss rod adjust. Contrary to the Northern Barrens of the USA, we are dry in our rainy season due to AC, and humid in our dry season, due to open windows. Do that make a diff? Oh heck yes! Mostly on necks with rosewood/ebony/pau-ferro fretboards as opposed to one piece maple or goncalo necks. I've "thought" that its because the unfinished woods, being different from the neck wood and exposed, absorb humidity and expand and contract more as a result. Gibby guitar necks get gaps in their fret ends between the binding nubs in winter too.
As the fretboard expands, you get more "truss rod effect", and vice versa. Its notices when you take out a favorite after not playing it a while and... jeeze... the action is either buzzing or too high. Change nothing but the truss rod tension and you're back in biz.
