... I change my rounds really often - about every month (approximately 30-40 hours playing time).

That is about right for any uncoated roundwound string if you want a lively sound and good strong tone. Some will go two months - Dean Markley Blue Steels for instance. Rotosounds go for about two weeks.

When I was playing in working bands, I would change them (Ernie Ball Super Slinky) after every gig (3 sets a night). Something about my sweat kills them quickly, and I like zing and growl.
