How should i set up my eq?

I have and Ampeg b2R and a 6 string Ibanez sdgr with Bartolini mk 1 pickups. I am trying to eq my bass to work with a technical progressive death metal band. Im having trouble finding a way to get the brutality i need out of my low end while still getting volume and clarity out of my higher end for things like sweeps and tapping. My eq goes from 40 Hz to 8Khz and has 9 nobs that slide up or down. Also I'm working with a Mark Bass Compressore. Any recommendations? thank you
