How to act when participating in a Internet forum

Funny quote I saw on a guys signature on another forum.

"Internet forum guidelines: 1. Learn how to read. 2. Learn how to express yourself effectively with written word. Craft clear sentences. 3. Learn how to track posts, and their subject flow. 4. Refrain from losing control of your brain when someone does not agree with you, or understand you. Follow these guidelines, and you'll succeed at not confusing the balls off of anyone and everyone. Have a nice day!"

I used to be a member of an email list long, long ago before phpBB forums were common and the Admin got so frustrated one day with all the fragmented conversations, that he wrote a guide called "How to quote" and sent it to us once a month until he finally switched over to a forum like this.

I wish I had saved that document because it still applies. :D

Depends. Not everyone is a native English speaker/writer. People make typos. Some people purposely use the wrong spelling. It was confusing at first, and then I found out it was for fun.
Teh = the
Interwebz = Internet
tarp = trap, when used in the phrase, "It's a trap" when quoting Admiral Ackbar from Star Wars or indirectly referencing that quote.

Well, you get the idea. It depends on the forum and what kind of members make up the community.

Space elevators? Absolutely not!

yeah me too I have trouble with the run on sentences with no punctuation I mean it's not that hard to type a period and capitalize the first letter of a sentence but oh well what can you do I just usually skip over those posts because they're so hard to read without getting a headache
