How to build 15" Bass Cab Enclosure?

Hey guys and gals. New to the forum. Just purchased the Scout 15" Neodymium 300 - 8 ohm speaker on the Mesa website. Never built a speaker cabinet before, but i'm going to give it a go (with help from friends of course).

I want an addition to my 4x10 Ampeg cab.

Has anyone tackled this before, or has this topic been covered on this forum at all?
If anyone has any info on building your own cab, or any links that may help, please reply. I'll need all the info I can get on this. :help:

I built a 15" cab about 12 years ago. Did some research to determine proper cab volume (cab wasn't ported, I wanted a tight as possible sound), used good, void-free 3/4" ply, then dadoed, glued and screwed. Carpeted it with contact cement, put on some good corner hardware, and had a slightly overbuilt, yet bulletproof cabinet that survived the rigors and abuse of the SoCal backyard party circuit.

It’s not often I can respond to postings in the area, BUT today just may be the day…

I ran upstairs and grabbed a paper backed book I use to build stereo speaker enclosures. I bought this one from Radio Shack, back in the early ‘90s when they actually had some things worth getting there, like vacuum tubes, and amplitude projecting signal generators. I’m thinking the book is probably out of print, but you may be able to find it in your local library, or book store. The information follows;

Re: jaebee's post. The linked to article make good points but link to the calculation program seems broken. Some alternatives:
1. Invalid Link Removed (find enclosure size Vb and resonace Fb)
2. Invalid Link Removed (find port geometry)

Gross box volume is Vb + volume occupied by port and speaker. Mingle around with Fb and Vb until you find somthing that looks reasonable and to see how these parameters influence the theoretical frequency response. The deep B is somewhere around 30Hz, E is 41.2Hz. Aiming too low for Fb may affect the "tightness" in the sound.

Then build, test and trim port - and share your experience.
