How to find if the neck is twisted ?!

How to find out if the neck is straight and isn't twisted or wrapped.

Here my bass neck I feel it's a little twisted ?


What is the right way to find out ?

Could be an optical illusion:

Check the relief by holding the low h-string down at 19th fret, then compare the relief with d-string.

Long metal skrate edge will help... Compare both sides...
Can't tell from simple pic... Glass lens are somewhat spherical...

I notice a twist in the neck when it affects fretting notes; if you get fret buzz on one string but not another, and they're similar height above the frets, it may be due to a twist.

If you look hard enough for a problem you will find one.

It does look twisted in the pics, but, yeah, it could be an optical illusion because of that nut. I'd be tempted to repost this in the Luthier's Corner forum, and get an answer from the pros...

It's normal for a nut to look like that but it is distracting. It would be easier to tell if it was twisted with a pic from the other end - like lay it down on a bed or table and take a shot from behind the bridge looking towards the nut - that should make it more obvious if there's a problem or not.
