Any tips on getting rid of spraypainted logo on the back of my bass? I bought it at auction and the previous owner painted his band's logo on the back. It's not too big and it looks like he just put up a template and a quick spray.

i was going to say something against this, but figured that one of the heavy luthier guys would come in with the smackdown... but looks like this slipped past the radar.
i don't know what kind of advice that is, but for a wood instrument you risk permanent damage trying to merely chip it off the instrument...
please... Bob, Matthew, Ken, SOMEONE! get in on this...
Also a number was carved into the back up by the neck joint on the back. Is there such thing as a wood filler I can apply and then stain the filler?

Hi Andrew.
I would use 400 grit wet & dry paper followed by 600 grit then polishing compound after the paint is gone. Use water as a lubricant with the sandpaper and a cork-backed sanding block too, to keep the surface flat.
It will take a little while but it will turn out pretty and you won't be causing lasting damage.
