How to measure string spacing?

I'm looking into getting a Music Man Bongo 6 string, and I read that it has a 17.5mm string spacing The problem is, I don't know what to compare that to since I don't know how to measure my own bass's string spacing. I own a Schecter Stiletto Studio 6. So does anyone know how to accurately measure string spacing down to the millimeter? Preferably using a ruler

With a ruler. :D

Sorry. I couldn't help myself. What can I say? It's the prick in me. No, not "in me, in me". IN MY PERSONALITY.:p

What I do personally is measure from the TOP CENTER OF EACH STRING. One more pointer: Do you have a "roller bridge"? You know, the kind that you can somewhat adjust the string spacing. If the saddles aren't the roller type, measure it as stated above. And, I'm done being a prick. For the evening........:hiding:
