How to properly build a neck.

I was wondering if someone could explain how to make a through body neck with a truss rod and stiffening rods (if this are needed).

It will be a fretless neck and be going to be built by gluing 3 pieces of wood together. Like so:

Then the fretboard glued on top.

I'm just unsure how put a truss rod in the neck to make it don't turn into a bow.

It will be 4 strings and a short scale.

Some guidance or advice please.

You have quite a bit to learn. Read through the stickies at the top of the forum, and buy at least one of the recommended books.

I have looked at a number of threads where builders show the process. Pretty cool stuff. Just search for neck thru build or something like that and you should find them easy.

...and for starters, a fretless bass does not have a fretboard. please, please, please call it a fingerboard. Cleve wouldn't be happy..

Fretboard fingerboard.

Any type of wood that you guys would recommend? Something that I may want to take into consideration?

One way is to take a plank of maple and remove everything that doesn't look like a bass neck. That's essentially what Fender and others have been doing for over 60 years.
