how to set up: wireless transmitter to preamp to amp

so, I bought a carvin wireless bass guitar system.
I have an Alembic F1-X preamp feeding a GK 400RB-III

including the bass, there are 4 volume knobs

There is volume on the F1-X and gain/master volume on the 400RB
Carvin wireless has volume also

Sound man complained last time. I was way too loud on stage and he had next to no volume from my DI on the F1-X

how the pho do I set this up properly?

Which device (assuming bass is at full volume) do I use to control volume?

simple nomenclature and wording appreciated

thanks yall

It sounds like the signal level off of the Alembic was not high enough for the sound man to work with.

Bass - turn the volume up 100%

Alembic F1-X (Taken from the manual) VOLUME Regulates level of full-range and crossover outputs. Will not affect effects level or direct out level when pre/post switch is set on "pre"
  • Pre means the output goes straight from your input connection of the amp
  • Post means your tone changes on the pre-amp are part of the signal now.
  • So if you are sending a Post signal from the Alembic, turn up the Volume control on the Alembic up high enough to where the sound guy is happy with you (I suggest turning this knob at least 3/4 of the way up to start). Then turn the dials on the GK head to compensate for your signal level.
  • Are you using the GK 400RB-III as a power amp? If so, your settings here are whatever you need to use for stage monitoring - this is your main volume control for the stage.

I am assuming you have the UX16 from Carvin or something like that. Make sure you are adjusting the Volume knob - turn this knob up high enough so you are not causing distortion to the Alembic input. This will assure you are sending a loud enough signal to the Alembic and everything can start good off of that.

How long ago did you buy the Carvin Wireless System?

first, thank you Gear.
soundmen always seem to use my PRE DI out for the F1X. so, using the above either the bass (if no wireless) or the wireless (if being used) feeds the PRE

I got the wireless last year. works fine but sorta cheaply made (looks it and feels it). BX16 I think?

so, assume I get this all set up. and I need to hear myself more on stage, what do I turn up, master on the GK?
so, assume I get this all set up. and the FOH needs to hear myself more out front, what do I turn up if DI is being fed PRE signal and bass is already turned up 100%?

Yes.

The engineer will accommodate for your level during sound check. After that, he will adjust you in the House. If he asks you for more signal, then turn up your preamp.
