Walking bass is easy in theory - that's the good thing. The real challenge, in my opinion, lies in its practical application, which for me means to play lines that are both nice to listen to AND creative (as in not repetitious) because there are a few "stock lines" that Adam also uses (like the ubiquitous 1-2-3-5 or 1-3-5-6). And that has taken me a few years to get anywhere, so far.

I was pretty impressed by it too.

There's a bit more to it of course. But for a quick capsule summary it hits on enough high points to give you a pretty good idea of how it works. You could watch much longer videos and get far less out of them than this gem.

Doesn't hurt that Adam Neeley is a composer, really knows his stuff, is an excellent bassist, can clearly communicate often difficult subject matter, and has a dry sense of humor I find appealing.
