Do you think it is a suitable bass for this song???
    Thanks

I have a fender roscoe beck but I love to play funk with my Stingray

With flats it would sound great.

With proper muting and a funky pocket, any bass should be fine for what is hip.

If Rocco himself played it with a Ray, do you think it would sound any less awesome?

Point is, if you play well enough anything will sound good.

I already played it with a stingray and really it sounded right too! just have to have the right approach, or just do it the way you want it!

That song don´t have the famous left hand muting technique

It may not have the "famous" muting but both the studio and live versions sure sound pretty muted especially during the second half of the tune.

Edit: my point is even with rounds if you cut the notes short, it will still work. I should have clarified.

I play flats on my SR5 and it would fit this sound perfectly. It's all in the fingers remember.

That's the deal. Nobody has Rocco's unique technique, not even close. Watch one of his videos, and you will see. He has a totally outside the box left hand technique. *However* there are ways of muting strings other than using your ring and pinky of your left hand. The muting is what will get you a more authentic "What Is Hip" vibe, not so much how you get it, IMHO

If I ever came to see your band, and you had a Stingray and your sound wasn't happening, I ain't blaming the bass!
