Like Jim Rome, I find his "humor" formulaic, immature and appealing to the lowest common denominator. Personally, I do not think that he is talented.

I dont listen to his radio show as a habit but sometimes, when Im skipping through the radio stations in my car, Ill end up listening and find it quite interesting and amusing. Other times I find it childish, gross, stupid, etc., so I move on to the next station.

i used to listen to howard before he made it real big. he was more provocative then; as opposed to purely lowest-common-denominator stuff now, but i still get a laugh from him. i can never understand why so many people take him soooooo seriously.
he says a lot of the same stuff everyone else is thinking, but doesn't have the courage to say.
haven't tuned in in a while, but it's always good to know he's there.

Howard does appeal to the lowest common denominator... but sometimes I enjoy LCD humor. However: Howard's motto seems to be "if it's funny, say it three times so even imbeciles will get the joke". That gets old fast. (Fellow LCD humorist Jim Rome takes this even further: repeat six or seven times). Also, despite claims (mostly his own) that Howard is a truth-teller, he is not. F'r instance, he's had plastic surgery, but AFAIK he's never admitted it.
I was a fan for awhile. There were some priceless shows, usually because of funny guests such as Sam Kinison, Richard Belzer, Gilbert Gottfried. But I got bored with the constant repetition. I also got bored with the teasers:
"Stuttering John interview after this break".
(15 minutes of commercials)
(10 minutes of Howard's show)
"Woops, I meant to play Stuttering John but we're out of time in this segment, we'll do it after the break"
Repeat all of the above three times.
I also got bored with how petty and mean he can be. Howard's mean streak can be funny when the target deserves it (e.g. Marge Schott). But he exploits those who are merely ignorant (the homeless, strippers, prostitutes, porn stars), just to make his listeners feel good about themselves I suppose.
It seems to me that the Stern show is 50% commercials... maybe even more. Even so, I'd sometimes check in, hoping to catch a good guest between commercials. But I stopped listening completely once Jackie quit. By that time there were already a bunch of sidekicks who I thought were completely un-funny (KC, Cabbie, Ralph) and getting way too much airtime.

Most broadcasts whether on TV or radio are about 18 minutes of actual show per every 1/2 hour. That's a pretty standard allotment. Except for info-mercials.
I always say that the "show" is just; "the airtime they haven't sold to advertisers yet".

I can't stand him anymore. Thank you, I want to hear MUSIC when I get up in the moring, not some idiot going on about how big some girl's breasts are. Not that I don't want to listen about them, I just want music.

I recently checked out a couple of the E! shows...pretty damn L-A-M-E schtick.

IIRC, it was one of 3 Dog Night's vocalists...he was telling Stern how he was a sexaholic & how his member actually 'exploded' in the moment.

Private Parts was funny, but we don't get his show in colorado (it was banned for some remark he made about columbine), the few TV shows that I've watched have been pretty stupid, I don't really like that kind of humor.
The only talk radio worth listening to is the Phil Hendrie show, common sense and comedy all in one. I like sports, but sports radio makes me want to yank out my eyeballs...
