I've been playing for about 2 1/2 years (self-taught). I actually lost interest in the bass about a month ago, though. For that whole month I didn't pick up my ax once
.
What inspired me to pick it back up was Martin Mendez's work on Opeth's Ghost Reveries. I don't know exactly why, but that is my main inspiration. Speaks to me, I guess.
I prefer the subtler, supportive guys. Technical virtuosos kinda turn me off.
I will be a freshman in college this fall and plan to take actual bass lessons, and, if I can afford it, upright lessons.
By the way, I've been lurking here for a few months, and have learned a helluva lot from you guys. Thanks for that.
