HX Stomp vs Zoom B3 + HPF

I'm currently plugging a StingRay into a Zoom B3 (normally using the BritHardRock preset), and straight into the mixing desk (QSC TouchMix). It sounds fantastic through IEMs (apart from the weak G string), but muddy and indistinct through the PA (QSC K8.2s + QSC KS112s subs), despite EQ/compression/etc at the mixer.

After reading all the HPF "magic" on TalkBass, I'd like to try it. However, the HX Stomp has me intrigued. The EQ section doesn't have an HPF, but offers Low Cut, as well as traditional graphic/parametric EQ. Would this Low Cut or parametric EQ suffice as an HPF? I'd rather replace the Zoom B3 with the HX Stomp.

My understanding is that the hx stomp has the same fx as the helix. In which there is a standalone hpf/lpf block effect. In addition, the modeled cabs also have a hpf. So, there should be plenty of options for you.
If you want the hx stomp, cant see how youd be terribly dissappointed after the initial blow from the cost. The helix related technology is not cheap. Havent had any downsides past that.

The HX Stomp has a LPF/HPF block and if you use cab sim all have hpf and lpf so you don't need to use an independent block for that.
From a guy that had a B3, just get the HX Stomp. It's a whole other level, really. No comparison possible.

B3n has a HPF just saying

Yes. Look up the pedal list on their site for the 4 parameters.

I'm guessing that's for the B3N, and not the B3.

Not to dissuade you from the HX Stomp, but the AcBsPre effect on the Zoom B3 is a very serviceable high pass filter. I believe the Depth control (0-10) cuts off all frequencies below....something.

I read somewhere on TB that a setting of 3 cuts off everything below 30 hz. 10 is anything below 100 hz.

Might be worth a try.

I'm still asking Santa for an HX Stomp, though... especially for the pitch shifter that (maybe) saves me from buying a 5-string!
