Hydro dip project. Paint over paisley relic

I’m starting another project. As the title says paint over paisley relic. I started with a 3 tone burst sbmm short scale ray. I just got the first dip done. I’m still trying to figure out what color to do on top. I like Inca silver, black, gold and metallic blue.

You can’t do hardware. Just the painted wood. I probably won’t do the headstock.

This looks great! I traded my way into a EBMM SS 'ray in sunburst and would love to explore refin options as it's definitely a lifer bass.

With the dip process, is there much risk of getting moisture into the wood body? I assume there are precautions to keep everything dry. I'm just totally unfamiliar with how this works.

You can’t do hardware. Just the painted wood. I probably won’t do the headstock.

Problem is that I’m out of film and paint.

Oh no, the body gets fully submerged in water. You just have to dry it off.

Got it. I wasn't sure if there was some kind of prep work done to the wood before it was submerged, or if the graphics film created a sufficient barrier between the body and the water.

Hydrodipped a Growler back in the day. Going for a gold granite stone finish. Hardest part was the clear coat. The wood isn’t bothered by the very brief time in the swimming pool. Lotsa guitars look great with a hydro print.

That looks awesome. The finish is holding up well.
