IANAL but you can be tried as an adult before you're 18. As long as the statute of limitations doesn't run out, you are (legally) screwed.

I have a six year old. She can be pretty aggressive but the idea of her being able to kill someone is, shall we say, laughable?

Not necessarily. I had to help the psych nurses with an eight year old who had killed his cousin. She was about a year old and he was tired of her getting all the attention, so he held her upside down by her ankles and bounced her head on the floor until she quit making noise.

Crap like this really does happen.

It's an ugly world sometimes.

I dont think you would, but then again, if you had avoided the law for that long, i dont know, i still dont think you would tho.

My god mother works as a childrens nurse, and just a few years back, a 4 year old set fire to his two year old sister who was strapped in her pram, the kid died later from the burns:scowl:

Jeeze, I hope somone had that kid put to sleep...for good. What a waste of human flesh that kid is. And no, I don't think a kid that evil can be rehabilitated.

I was arrested at 22 for a warrant issued when I was 17. I was supposed to be sent to juvenile court, but because so many things were screwed up about it (including that the warrant was issued for the wrong person!), I ended up in standard Circuit Criminal court. As soon as the judge saw my case, he requested the DA's office drop the charges, as it was a waste of time and money to proceed.

Yes but I'm sure your case had none of the intricate details that most murder investigations entail.

Back to the original post: Looking at the way that the ages of those tried as adults in capital cases is creeping lower and lower, I would think it's definitely not unthinkable for someone in that situation to be tried as an adult even if arrested in their mid-teens, say 15 or 16. I think largely, the decision will have to do w/ the circumstances surrounding the death and what jurisdiction is prosecuting.
