Paul is one of my most respected artists. He did some amazing things with the first three Tool records, put out a solid solo EP, and his Lusk project was badass. But I am currently annoyed with him: he's got new music on his poorly designed website, and has no information about it. I want to support one of my favorite artists, yet there's no way for me to purchase any of his new music. What gives?

There's simply no excuse in this modern age for having a poorly designed website and lack of information about your work, especially when you're an artist of his stature and fame. Annoying, annoying, annoying.

honestly, i didn't think paul was even that popular at all...especially here, i rarely see people bring him up.
i find it funny that your actually annoyed with someone who has been out of the spotlight for so long. i mean obviously i don't agree with all the egomanical crap, but i don't really see a reason to make a huge deal out of it. to me he only played a small(but very good) role in tool. i've always liked his bass playing alot but not as much as justin

Newsflash guys: most artists don't write their own bios. Somebody wrote that about him, so of course it sounds aggrandizing. That's what bios do.

He wrote most of the material on the first three albums. There was a noticeable drop in quality when he left.

I like the old Tool stuff at least as much as the newer stuff, if not even more, but for some reason I still have a lot more sympathy towards Justin Chancellor.

Lateralus was a noticable drop in qualitiy??? Either you take that back or I will come over and punch you!! :D

My feeling was that Lateralus was utter crap, and I didn't even bother with the next one. But hey, to each their own.

Really? I always thought their material kept getting progressively better from album to album.

And what`s not to like about Lateralus? Schism, Parabol/Parabola, The Patient, Lateralus, Ticks and Leeches, and Disposition are phenomenal tracks.

it only gets better depending on YOU. what you are saying is more of an opinion. lateralus is where i draw the line, 10,000 days seriously bored the hell out of me. and AEnima is my all time favorite. i doubt anything they ever put out will ever top that album for me.

What's not to like? The endless noodling, repetitive pentatonic licks, TERRIBLE production, bad songs, etc., etc.

I prefer Undertow.

To each their own.

But this thread is about Paul D'amour. I really dig his post-Tool work. I just wish there was more of it.

Umm, didn`t I say I thought (key phrase right here, bud) that they got better.

No duh it`s an opinion. I was mostly just trying to get a response as to why he didn`t like the new albums as much.

Glad to finally find others who hear it the same as I do. If I try really hard I can be amused by some of Lateralus, but generally that album and 10000 Days I find to be somewhere between a big letdown and plain boring. Aenima has some monster tracks on it, and I thought Undertow was good too.

IMO Primus took a major nosedive after Frizzle Fry, and Dream Theater's best album by far was their first one. Now I'm alone again in my views, aren't I? ... and off topic, sorry Benjamin.

As for Paul D'amour ... a lot of musicians are totally clueless and at times their own worst enemies on the business side of things.

To me the bio seems well-written, informative, and accurate (especially the description of Spokane).

Cool vids. I'd never heard of his solo stuff. Full credit to him for not trying to join Chevelle or otherwise cloning Tool.
