I am getting a new setup..and I need some advice

I will have about $2000 to spend on a new setup next month. I just got back into playing again last year as I was asked to play in a gigging band. I couldn't afford much so I bought a used Squier Affinity JB(which plays surprisingly well for a very cheap bass) and a Fender Rumble 200. My band has it;s own PA and I now run a zoom B3n into the pa and use no amp. My question is, what ratio should I spend on the setup. I am not sure that I even need an amp, but I don't think it would hurt to have a decent one that could run into the pa system in case my zoom craps out on me all of a sudden. Thanks in advance

If you like the Affinity take it around the shops and try it through as many bass amps as you can until you find one you like for <=$2K. Although that does beg the question as to what you find to be deficient in the Rumble.

Or... Can you buy a bass Sansamp for $2k?

My suggestion would be to not rush into spending the $2k. I am not saying don't spend, just don't let it burn a hole in your pocket.

Play whatever you come across, try anything you can get your hands on and buy what makes you feel it is correct. You may end up with a 2k bass, or a $500 bass and a $1500 amp, or none of the above.

Just wait for what feels right to you without limiting yourself to a %

Aren’t you happy with the Squier bass and Fender amp?
Are you talking about spending $2,000 for a better bass and a different amp?
If you’re talking about a better bass and a good DI box, I can suggest two or three basses and one excellent DI.

Lets hear them!! I am looking into di boxes and I am thinking that might be a better option for me anyways. I will be keeping the Squier for a backup bass , but I would at least like to have a decent main bass

Sure, people might suggest the SansAmp, MXR M80, the Hartke Bass Attack, the Ampeg SCR DI, etc, etc, etc, but this thing is perfect for what I want.
Designed by bassists for bassists...these guys put in what they thought was necessary and left out what they thought was superfluous.
Funny thing is, they built it for themselves, but it was so good they decided to show it to the bigwigs and they decided to put it into production...LR Baggs has always been known for their accoustic products prior to this unit.
