Hey Tim, grand news on the job. Just a suggestion here. Skip the new gear. You don't need it and you know you don't need it. Credit card, student loans, motorcycle payment, plus trying to save a bit is what you need to focus on. Actively work to reduce your debt then you can take a look at another bass.
You have every reason to be happy and thankful for what you have. More things does not mean more happiness. I wish you well.
Actually, I do need new gear. I sold everything to get through college.
I just want to pick up some gear again so I can start playing out, something that I consciously gave up in college so I could graduate on time. Don't worry, I won't be going too crazy.
I've got it planned out, that even with buying new gear, I can have the credit card and motorcycle paid off by November, right when the student loans start becoming due.
I've moved back in with my parents, helping out around the house in exchange for a very reasonable rent, allowing me to pay off my debt quicker and I plan on moving out of here, right into owning my own home with little time spent renting.
In other words, I've got a very aggressive plan to pay down my debt to very reasonable levels as quickly as I can, while paying maximums into my 401k and saving the rest.
Thanks for the concern... but I've got WAY too many spreadsheets figuring this stuff out. I spent a good long time in college working with this stuff, and don't plan on changing anything too much.
