I found an Ampeg 810 on the curb. Now what?

For years now I've been stopping at yard sales hoping to find a Fender that's been stashed in someone's closet since the 60s. It's never happened.

I had to run errands today and parked in some dinky alley behind a bar to avoid having to pay parking. And there it was. An Ampeg 810 on the curb next to a pile of garbage. I didn't think much of it. Thought someone was unloading it or loading it for a gig. When I returned from running errands, an hour later, it was still there. So I put in the back of the Civic and drove home.

And here I am now, with an Ampeg fridge in my apartment. It's in rough shape — maybe it was a backline? — but it works perfectly. What should I do with it?

Here it is on the curb where I found it.

It works? Damn, that's a score.

I'd pull the grille, which doesn't look completely destroyed, and just try hosing it down (make sure it's not mdf or particle board first!). The rest of it, well, you can either leave it as is, or pull the speakers, put them in a safe place, and start removing that tolex. Some people here have written about that process, use google. It will be a long, exhausting, and no fun job, but it'll have to be done regardless. You'll need a scraper, heat gun and a lot of sandpaper. Then you can either retolex it yourself, which is difficult, or take it to a furniture reupholster and pay them to do it. I recommend that.

You've got me scratching. I just pictured an army of roaches exploding out of the cab.

I got them once from Craigslist furniture when I was fresh out of college. What a nightmare. You can't get rid of them.
Ended up throwing every piece of furniture I had away when I moved out, including ones that didn't come from CL.
