Double Bass I got (getting a bass) need help

So yes its come down to this bass that I rented last night for a concert. $4400. Rented for $50. Well I was looking into this one before, so he said I can use it in concert to get its "full potential". The sound is unreal! Its so booming and loud! Perfectly crisp. Just amassing.

Problem?- I dont know the brand of it. Maybe you can help? Also I would like to know about this bow. I think they made it but I have to ask.

The brand? Tell us the name of the dealer and what he/she said. Can you borrow a digital camera so you can post better pix?

Chinese, but I could see how it would be mistaken for one of the Romanian imports. It is likely that many of those Romanian imports actually started life in China.

The store is A. Cavallo in Omaha Nebraska. They are not allowed to tell the brand for some reason. But there really is no reason to know, as long as it sounds good.

Not allowed to tell the brand? Look, what they're likely doing is simply putting their name on a Chinese factory bass. I don't know why they wouldn't just come out and say that. If they are saying that and don't want to specify exactly which factory it is, then that's reasonable. Many importers protect their sources for a variety of reasons. If the bass sounds, plays, and looks good and it is built well, then that information hardly matters.

Brandon, as a matter of policy, I don't reveal the details of what goes back and forth via PM. I will say, though, that given several things you've told me and what I've read here about the Kay valuation, you would be wise to be VERY cautious surrounding this purchase.

Edit: Looking at the pic you posted, it seems your would-be bass bears a strong resemblance to this one. Look at the neck button area, overall shape, and spirit-varnish finish. What'd ya think?

Its because it is a (i believe) shen, but A Cavallo has done so many upgrades and made the bass far more valuable, they are not supposed to say the brand unless-- very-- interested.

Last time I asked, it was a random question, now I bet I can get an answer.

I cant see the image for some reason. Is it photobucket? Im on my schools computer at the moment, and photo bucket is blocked on these :(

how come no one else here as heard of this dealer? Btw, you can do whatever you want with the bass. You're the one paying for it and eventually taking the hit if it turns out to be a POS. If you want to get it checked before you buy it, any legitimate dealer wouldn't mind, since there's nothing to lose. You'll just get it checked out, the luthier will say whether it's cool or not, and you'll pay them the full value. No loss whatsoever.

I still think you're a troll, but if you aren't, i'm going to do all i can to help you along your path
