I got it. The MTD 535 is mine

I will figure out how much it weighs. That should be easy. I will do it when I get home tonight. Funny thing is, I was on the forums and I saw pics of another mtd, and my first thought was "oh man, I would love to have one of those." and my second thought was "why are you on the forums right now, you DO have one of those, so go play it." I logged off shortly thereafter :D

The other thing that surprised me was the comfort of the neck. I had tried some other mtd's and they never really felt right to me, but this one is just amazing. I am not trying to be an a$$ and gush over my own instrument, it's just that I am so happy!

I do believe the wood pairing is as follows: Mac top, ash neck, and for the life of me I can't remember the body wood, but I think it's walnut???? I'll get back to you on that.

Man, at least at those pic angles, it sure doesn't look like an ash neck, but it is hard to tell for sure. Get the serial number and call/email Mike. He'll tell you EXACTLY what's in it. :)

That explains a lot. The ash neck is giving you some of that tonal girth. My latest MTD is real close to this one... ash body, ash neck, maple board. The only diff is you have the mac ebony top and mine is crotch walnut. I'm guessing both our basses are pretty close tonally. I LOVE this latest one, too, so I bet yours also just RULES.

Hope this doesn't seem like a derail, but just for comparison, here's the top and back of mine...

Haha, I was just about to post with the specs of the bass, but I guess you already provided it. This looks like the one that was at Bass Exchange, if it IS the one that was at Bass Exchange in Sherman Oaks, I had the chance to play this bass a little over a year ago. Very happenin' bass, and it's what led me to wanting and actually getting an Ash body/Ash neck MTD.

I would say compared to my MTD which has a Claro Walnut top vs the Mac Ebony top on yours, the Mac Ebony made the bass snappier (IMO). I'm saying this from what I remember when I played it since I got my bass a month after I got to try your bass at Bass Exchange and didn't get to directly A/B it with mine.

Not a derail at all! I could look at beautiful mtd's all day long...:)
