I have come full circle, anyone else?

So, yeah, ignoring that 1969 mail-order Hofner clone, I have come full circle back to a Fender P. I now play my P bass about 90% of the time.

Ill keep this short and to the point. I started my bass playing life by buying a used fender standard jazz on ebay. Candy apple red, not a color I had seen often at all on MIMs. (to this day I still dont think ive seen another one). It arrived and I learned how to play bass on it, not really knowing much else. After a few months I started to want a different bass and I purchased one (and then two, three..) I dismissed Fender pretty much entirely, thinking that they were just mass produced crap. (some are.. they seem to be getting better though). I sold my Fender without thinking twice. Although a twist of fate resulted with it finding its way back to me. I bought it back from the guy I sold it to because I saw that he had it for sale, and I wanted it for nostalgic value. I didnt play it though, I just kept it in its case while I played my music man basses. Lately, however, I have found myself really attracted to old, worn in Fenders. By old I dont necesarily mean vintage. But 80s, early 90s basses that have been played to death. My fender feels amazing to me right now and I find myself enjoying it more for the stuff I have been playing lately. I also bought a 1984-1987 (E series) MIJ fender strat , with a floyd rose, which is a fantastic guitar.
Furthermore, when I browse TB, I find myself mostly interested in Fender threads.

It goes in cycles IMO. Sometimes you only need a change from a sound you've been hearing for awhile. I went through a Ric phase and a Warwick phase .I really loved the way both basses sound then. In the end, they both got stale and I went back to same old same old.

I agree. Right now the sound of the jazz just seems to work better for the stuff I am playing lately. The passive tone feels more organic.
