I have finally found my fuzz pedal

I have always liked the way Greg Lake and John Wetton used fuzz in the 70s. Unfortunately, I have never had any luck with the fuzz pedals that I have tried (various big muffs, big muff clones, boss, dunlop...). None of them sounded good with my bass. I liked them with guitar, not bass. I figured that it was just me.

I bought a Catalinbread Manx Loaghtan for my gtr pedal board and plugged my bass into it. I can not begin to explain how incredible this pedal sounds. It is my favorite fuzz hands down. Guitar or bass.

Just wanted to share. Anyone else try this pedal?

No I haven't. But now I'm intrigued. I'm still looking to replace my MXR fuzz. I'll have to look into this. Seems like catalinbread makes great stuff from what I hear on TB.

I haven't tried it, but I thought I'd comment about that sound. A few sources indicate that the FoxTone fuzz had a lot to do with the John Wetton sound during King Crimson days. I read where the circuit designer for that device went to work for DanElectro and has put the same circuit into production as the French Toast. I have one of these and I gotta say it sounds excellent.

Have you tried the French toast pedal? Now I'm really intrigued about the danelectro considering its only like $30 brand new. I'm trying to find a replacement for my MXR and if this thing is really that good, I may just grab it.

Not to hijack this thread but I have a little bit of a dilemma.

I just got an Oxide and after a lot of testing I've found I just like my Mastotron better as a gated fuzz. It's killing me inside that I like the plain Jane pedal from guitar wal-mart more than the sexy etched and universally loved Oxide. Its just not as fat and frequency filling, Any tips for the Oxide before I flip it? Or is this just part of growing up?

Flip the voice switch down, crank the drive, use plenty of both the clean and fuzz signals. The oxide is cool, but it won't do what the mastotron does. It is much more of it's own thing.
