i have this... should i get a 1x15?

I have a Ampeg svt3 pro
ampeg 6x10 classic
sans amp bi pedal
fender mexican jazz

i play like indie music and put a few pops and slap in but mostly finger picking. I like to play bass in different ways on stage and at bp bc i like things different. I do love the real real low end of bass. i was wondering if i should get a 1x15 to go with my setup and if i did would it work out rite with ohms and such?

Speaker size does not affect tone. You're 610 most likely has far greater low end than most 115s.

So get a 115 if you want, but it would be of no real use and most would have an extremely hard time keeping up with a 610.
 
To the OP: Eh...probably not.

I doubt you'll get what you're looking for. Just adding any old 1x15 won't provide 'the real low end of bass' unless you know the specs for the speaker and cabinet.

Chances are, your 6x10 is already provides the low end extension you'd get out of a (typical) 1x15.

You would probably be leaving the 1x15 at home on most gigs...just pointless with your current rig.
 
Here's the real answer. NO. the 3Pro is a 4 ohm minimum head, and the 610 is a 4 ohm cab. You cannot add any more cabs to the rig you have without risking serious damage to the 3Pro. In order to use a 1x15 cab, you would not be able to use your 610.
 
There are of course tonal differences between speakers, but they're not due to size - there any many other factors that do impact the tone, but as these factors are not as easily observed or understood as size their contribution is often misattributed. Correlation does not imply causation.

It does not help that many manufacturers and adverts go along with these myths so as to give them some credibility.
 
But doesn't dispersion, along with all other possible factors, equal tone? I'm just saying 10's and 15's sound quite different to me up close, far away, mostly by frequency response. I'm not trying to argue here at all, I'm just trying to learn something.
It's the dispersion plus whatever tonal characteristics of the frequency response that's in the speaker. The tonal characteristics can be controlled. Dispersion can't.
