I Like To Rock...but am having trouble

Sounds like you're going to need to count it precisely. Go by the high-hat tapping through that section. Write down how many taps of the high-hat to each bass stab, play it to your written notes, then you'll be able to gradually wean yourself off your notes as you internalize the feel of it.

ie it starts 3 and 4
3and 4

2 and 3 guitars start
I don't know if it is 100% correct I just listened to it a couple of times. I have been hold with West jet for 4 hours trying to cancel my Hawaii vacation. Mozart is blazing away on my phone so its hard to count it while other music is playing lol.

Sounds like you are jamming to it, sans drummer. Listen to the guitarist(s) phrasing. He's putting those 'punches' in the absence of their chords. @hrodbert696's idea is excellent as well.

Oh, and lotsa reps... there's a few songs I've done this to, and I can hardly stand playing them, anymore. So, balance the work with the fun! Good luck!

She's A Roller is pretty cool too. Is that the studio that Rush used also?

OP, you will just have to play along with it about a half million times, that's all.
Eventually, you will discover that about the time you get to know a song well,
is about the same time you get sick of hearing it, LOL!

@kevindahl is on the right track

There is a pickup that leads to the down beat just before 2:42 in the video. From the down beat, if you count out |4/4|3/4|4/4|4/4| four times it works out.

My notation sucks and I don't claim this is 100% accurate, but hopefully it will get you in the ballpark.

Have been doing that, but I keep anticipating and punching a beat or so early and bugger the count. Just such wonky timing.

Yes, Le Studio in Morin Heights not too far from hear, just outside of Montreal. Also, yes, Roller is a blast to play too!
