I love soup but...

I've had the same experience as you with soup before.
I've decided not to make soup the one item in my meal and then expect it to fill me up for a long time. Now that I set my expectations properly, I no longer feel like soup owes me anything more than the temporary enjoyment of how good it tastes.
One thing I've noticed as I get older is I no longer like the thick cream based soups and chowders like I used to. A clear broth based soup is what I now prefer. Something light with veggies and pepper.

Yep, the best soups are always homemade. I don’t know if chicken and dumplings would be considered soup but i hope it would. Same for chicken and rice. As much as i love both i’m on the starch wagon these days so maybe once or twice a year for either.
