Double Bass I need a bow.

Well, I'm making that move up to University bass playing next year, but i won't be taking the bass i've been playing for the past years with me.

i am, however taking a bow. i'm currently renting mine from my school (as with the bass), but it is crap and i need a new one.

any reccomendations for a decent bow for no more than like... 1000$? Preferrably less...

i like heavy bows... if that helps any...

I've a Marco Raposo that I'm very happy with. The asking price on it when I got it was $750 (My teacher thought it was a very good buy for the $$). I don't know how much it weighs, but it feels good in my hand. The stick is bit thicker at the grip than the other bows I tried.

I bought a $600 Cirillo from Dabid Gage and everyone eho has picked it up thinks it shoudl have been double the cost. Very balanced and light.

Sorry, just being silly

I would find a bass shop, either where you are now, or
where you are going to school, and look at bows there,
you cant really get an abstract answer thats gonna mean
anything here.

I have a student who has had a VERY good experience with another bow by Marco Raposo; Greman bow, no less. Great deal.

(German bow is the way to go.)
