I need a good bass distortion pedal, help?

To prove a point- I don't like French toast :)

You can get a lot of the Boss- type distortions (Metal Zone, Heavy Metal, Metal Core, DS-1, etc.) in that range if you go used. If you're not sure if fuzz, OD, or distortion is what you're after, I'd spend a good amount of time on Youtube and in the FX Clip Database to figure out what you want.

nice paintings, but I tried youtube and when I look up an effect it brings me to bass covers of songs...

Include the word "demo" or "review" with the name of a pedal. There's a lot of them on there. I have a demo of the EHX Bass Big Muff on there for one which is a nice fuzz in your price range. Thanks for checking out the paintings, btw :)

check out TB Mod grygrx's www.bassfuzz.com. There are some dirt reviews on there as well and all of them are bass centric. you'll find all his video overviews on youtube as well.

If you search the Talkbass site (see the blue bar with the word search on it??? It is your friend) you'll find numerous topics on bass friendly ODs.

Lastly...you are just going to have to experience a pedal before you yourself can decide whether or not it sucks.

Now figure out what kind of fuzz. Vintage fuzz, buzzsaw fuzz, synthy gated fuzz, etc. What fuzz sounds do you like in songs? Ben Fold's Five type fuzz or Stuart Zender's Jamiroquai fuzz, etc. If you are into the more common classic fuzz tones, there are a number of Muffs and Muff clones out there in that price range.

As far as I know, a pedal that does everything you could possibly want from a fuzz does not exist.

If you need bang for you buck, I'd look into some of these...

Wall of Sound: EHX Bass Big Muff, Electronix MessDrive (or hybrid +)
Gated: Subdecay Flying Tomato, Devi Ever Legend of Fuzz
Aggressive: Guyatone TZ-2 (mad cheap)
